New Year, New Us!💁🏻‍♀️

Just kidding…but we do want to share something with you all.

Over the last 2 years, we’ve worked on over 60 video projects. But within those busy shoot days, long streaks of editing, and a bunch of travelling, we’ve also made time to deliver a number of workshops around filmmaking. These started out as short webinars, and have since grown into 3 day workshops, covering the 3 key pillars of video production:

  1. Pre-Production

  2. Shooting

  3. Post-Production

We’ve truly caught the bug for workshops, developing our own resources and along the way, picking up our own pockets of knowledge, so that we can continue to improve our services and reach as many people as possible. We definitely want this wing of our business to expand, because not only does it mean we can make video EVEN MORE accessible and affordable for the Voluntary and Community Sector, but it also gives us mad job love and satisfaction.

This became super apparent to us during our last workshops, where some of the feedback we received had us on the verge of tearing up, no joke. We delivered workshops around advocacy ThroughFilm to a group of young people attending a Summer Camp Advocacy Workshop with our friends at AFRIDAC. These workshops were designed to give the young people skills to spread awareness about topics important to them and you can check out more information about this project here.

One of the participants, Marvin, referred to us as his mentors. He shared that since the workshops, he’s been able to secure paid work, and that we gave him the skills and confidence to pursue a career in filmmaking🥹

Showing people the ropes of filmmaking and giving them power to create something that will help them effectively tell their story is so rewarding. These skills can be taken away and adapted to future projects too, meaning our work leaves a long-term impact, and who knows, maybe these workshops ignite a creative spark in people? It’s a win-win!

So this is really a PSA to say that we would love to work on more workshops with both Corporate and VCS clients, whether that includes training staff members to create social media content, showing service users how to advocate ThroughFilm, teaching kids that this career is a viable choice for them, or showing you that you can combine creativity, purpose and business together.
