Red Balloons
“We’ve got you.”
Red Balloons were one of our very first charity clients and we have loved working with them since setting up ThroughFIlm, we not only love their work, ethos and ambition, but the people behind all the work too. We’ve had the privilege of documenting their Lived Experience voices (which you can find here), and now we’ve reached a chapter of documenting what they do as an organisation. So much goes on behind the scenes, so much love and effort from everyone working at the organisation, and we’re so pleased to be a small part of their journey.
Red Balloons are a charity based in the North East of England, helping people struggling from ill mental health. Sadly, this affects too many people and it can feel very daunting to reach out for help. Red Balloons offer support groups, but also walks 7 days a week, meaning their support can be accessed instantly, which has been a saving grace for many people. They’re a wonderful charity with heaps of support to give, and the passion to make it as accessible as possible. This film gives an insight into what they do, and the impact that they have on people’s lives. We were very lucky to be able to film with people who are a part of the groups at Red Balloons, and get an insight into just how much they have helped them. Our close working relationship means that we were able to come up with a creative narrative that encapsulates their mission. We decided to go with the theme of “walking in your shoes”, which works well to get their message across. Staff and volunteers at Red Balloons all have lived experience of ill mental health, meaning that they know just how hard it can be…they know how it feels, because they have walked in your shoes.
